Righteous Run
Well, I did a loop around the hospital campus today, which kind of went up and down all over the place. You see, the area around where I work is super-hilly. There’s not much that I can do about that. It was good weather to run, though. A bit humid, and 60 degrees. While the last mile was tough for having such a relentless incline, I am happy I did it. After all, it had been a long work day.

first time out since the flu
I wish that I hadn’t had the flu. There went four days of running! that’s all right. It was great getting back onto the road after my recovery period, and hitting the hill on Franklin Street was fun! Hopefully, I’ll have it worked out so that I can get the amount of miles in over the next week that I’d like to.

I’m going to run a marathon…
So, after having such a good experience with the 8K that I ran on Thanksgiving, and having enjoyed 5Ks in the past, I’ve decided that I’m going to build up my endurance, and see what I can do. I believe that I can complete a marathon, if I give myself enough time and stick to my training. I’ve focused on the Tacoma City Marathon, which is in May, one day after I turn 28! I figured that that was perfect timing, really, not only because it lends some significance to my 28th birthday, but also because it gives me six full months to train for the big event!
I’ve also planned to do other, shorter events before the marathon, including a half- in late-March, and a couple of 5Ks to help me focus on improving my pace and ability to use splits.
I’m a newbie, after all, and recognize that this is going to be a lot of work, and requires my serious attention in order to get done. I want to have fun!
